Have your say on the combined Amendment and Planning Permit Application relating to Ballarat Clarendon College - properties 1421A-1425 Sturt
Street, 1 Murray Street, 2 to 24 Ajax Street and 15 to 23 Ajax Street, Newington.

The applicant is SED Advisory on behalf of Ballarat Clarendon College.

The planning scheme amendment seeks to re-zone Ballarat Clarendon Sturt Street Campus to Special Use Zone, Schedule 17 (SUZ17), including land currently zoned Special Use Zone 5 (SUZ5) and school owned property at 2 to 24 Ajax Street and 15 to 23 Ajax
Street, Newington currently zoned General Residential Zone (GRZ1).

Schedule 17 will include reference to the Ballarat Clarendon Sturt Street Campus Master Plan 2017-2030 (Master Plan).
The Master Plan is designed to direct future development at the campus.

The Master Plan includes a proposal for partial closure of Ajax Street and Murray Street, and of the pedestrian easement that runs through the campus from Murray Street to Sturt Street.
Council will undertake a separate process in accordance with the Local Government Act 1989 for the closure of these two roads and pedestrian easement.

Planning permit PLP/2017/444 seeks approval for works under Part 1 of the Master Plan.

Works include the demolition of three dwellings, tennis courts and partial demolition of an existing school building, relocation of one dwelling, modification of two dwellings into school buildings, construction of a multi-purpose sports field, onsite staff carpark and underground stormwater detention tank, and works generally associated with the construction of fences, road works, car parks, landscaping and buffer planting and removal of the pedestrian easement.

The Amendment and draft Planning Permit have been prepared under section 96A of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and will be on public exhibition from 14 February 2019 to 19 March 2019.

Any person who may be affected by the amendment or by the granting of the permit may make a submission.

Submissions must be lodged by 5pm 19 March 2019. City of Ballarat officers and the applicant will hold two information sessions at Ballarat Town Hall on 19 February 2019 from 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm.
